About Ugg Boots in Australia....

Uggs were originally invented in Australia. We have the legal right to call all sheepskin boots uggs.
The Ugg Boot or just Uggs, is a generic term for a style of sheepskin boot which has been produced in Australia and New Zealand for over 100 years. Originally they were called “Ug or Ugh Boots” which is short for “Ugly”. They were traditionally worn by shearers working in the wool industry, to keep their feet warm. During World War 1, Australian pilots and navigators in open-cockpit aeroplanes found the boots useful on cold mornings. Later, in the 1960’s the boots became popular with young Australian surfers and the Ugg boot trend began to grow.

Fake Ugg Boots....

Consumers should beware of fake ugg boots.  An ugg boot must be made of real sheepskin.  Due to the high cost of genuine sheepskin, one of the first warning bells will be a so called "ugg boot" advertised at a very cheap price.  Make sure you have the genuine article before purchasing. Genuine sheepskin will outlast many synthetic products. Remember you get what you pay for.

Sheepskin is a natural product which breathes, absorbs moisture and provides a warmth and comfort superior to any synthetics. (Most synthetics become very smelly with wear). Real sheepskin has the wool tanned into the leather. Fake sheepskin can easily be recognised - if you part the fibres lining the boot with your fingers and there is a woven or knitted backing under the fibres it is NOT real sheepskin.  True Uggs are made of 100% Sheepskin. Australian sheepskin is the best material available for this purpose.
